So this is a fascinating story.
In January 2020, the average selling price for a townhouse or semi in Kingston was $330,000.
In January 2023, it was 596,000. So that’s an 80.6% increase.
So why is that?
One reason is that many of the townhouses and semis on the market right now are new builds. These are brand-new homes with beautiful finishes.
If you look at what was on the market in 2020, it may be different than today.
The number of homes sold in semis and townhouses in January was only 10. In 2020 it was 41.
What is at attracting buyers to this segment of the market is relative affordability. It’s attractive to first-time buyers. They also appeal to down siders and sizers who only need a little space.
